A Concise Guide to the English Language Structure and Grammar
Pronunciation Guide
New learners of English initially struggle with the pronunciation of individual words. Moreover, this may become a habit later when they read English texts to others who would naturally view the reader to be mumbling ...
To overcome this problem:
Step 1: At the beginning of a new sentence, pause reading aloud and scan with the eyes half of the sentence, then
Step 2: Read the full sentence aloud (slowly but clearly), then pause and repeat Step 1
Note: if the full sentence is composed of several connected simple sentences, then pause at the beginning of each simple sentence.
Example: to read “The sun was shining over the green valley, and the cows were grazing peacefully along the river. Then suddenly, an avalanche of rain poured down and created a flood.”
